How Do You Make Your Own Website?

If you search the phrase, “How Do you Make Your Own Website?” you will find hundreds of results in Google or Bing. Give it a try. A lot of them are scams. Some are website hosting sites, and others are videos promising  get-rich-quick schemes. Still others are sites asking for you to give them money for some “fail-proof” money making idea that never pans out. File those back under “Scams”.

So, how do you weed out the good online business ideas from the bad ones? I don’t know that anyone has the answer to this. Many have tried and failed at one of these promising leads, only to find they’ve been ripped off with no way to get their money back.

That leaves you with one question: Where can I get free help creating an online business?

The answer is not so simple. First off, everyone is unique and has different learning skills and abilities. Second, some people don’t have a lot of extra time, or need to work on another business on their off-work hours. Also, each of us has different needs as far as how much money we need or want to make. All of these things are considerations when starting a business.

I’ve been kind of lucky in my career. I worked for a small company when I was younger and was able to start my own similar business back in the 1990’s and have been doing it ever since. This has given me an opportunity to work from home and do other things that I’ve wanted to do. I have extra time during the week to invest in learning about online businesses and creating websites.

Needless to say, I’ve wasted money on a few different scams and schemes so I really have a bad taste in my mouth for anything claiming that you can make easy money. I think we all instinctively know that if making money were easy that everyone would be doing it. That’s why there has to be an element of hard work, learning, and time investment to any career or business we aspire to.

I have found through trial and error that it’s best to try things that are free to see if you like them first, and then sign up for the extra “paid” plan. Any site not offering that does not believe in their product or service and makes money by getting it upfront quickly and then not delivering.

Having said that, I highly recommend trying a service called Wealthy Affiliate. What Wealthy Affiliate has created is an online college of sorts to train you on how to create websites, incorporate Affiliate Marketing, and advertise on your pages to start making money.

The main reason that this site is so beneficial is that there is a whole community of thousands of people just like you who log in every day and work on their websites. Many of them are available to help you along the way if you get stuck or have questions. Sure, you can sign up at GoDaddy or some other website hosing service and make a simple website, but where is the help….the community?

Also, most of these sites require an initial monetary commitment even to try them. With Wealthy Affiliate, you can try it first and if you really like what they have to offer, you can sign up for the paid service. Also, if you want to stay a free member you can still use the site for free. That made me very comfortable because their confidence in offering the use of the site for free shows that they know many people will stay with it.

I’m now in my second year with Wealthy Affiliate, and I currently have three websites. I’m very comfortable updating and working with them after putting in the time to learn how to do it, which was shown to me in step-by-step training videos. Check out my page: BaseballMomStuff.com if you’d like to see what I’ve been able to accomplish through all the help I’ve gotten at Wealthy Affiliate. I’ve actually grown to really enjoy writing and blogging about my experiences as a baseball mom, and there are so many topics that you can create a website on and some that are totally untapped.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a place to learn at your own pace how to create a website and start an online business with it, I would give Wealthy Affiliate five out of five stars for honesty, integrity, and thoroughness in having everything you need to get started. And since it’s free to sign up, there’s no risk in trying it out.

    1. Hi there, and yes I have. All of my websites have affiliate links connecting me to products from major companies and some small web outlets. 🙂
